This module aims to introduce the student to the world of classical music. It will cover the basic points which musicians and musicologists talk about in music and will also give a brief history of music from about 1500 to the present using those references.
By the end of this module you should be able to have a better idea as to what music is and more particularly, what marks out a baroque piece as being different from a romantic piece.
While it is unnecessary to have studied music before in order to enjoy this module, it is assumed that the student can read music and has listened to a fair amount of western art (classical) music. This will help in understanding the descriptions given.
